First one for the day!

Well, well. Going quite nicely here. And thanks for all the interest people!

I've put the rankings on the sidebar now, no more need to retype every time (I'm aware of the post template; but I think the sidebar ranking is better, hehe).

Anyway, here is the first quote for the day! (Still easy)

Who needs new music? We all know rock music attained perfection in 1974.

Good luck all!

Last one for the day

Ok, glad that we had that whole anonymous issue sorted out. And sorry Sundar, this competition isn't just about who knows The Simpsons the best, you have to be quick as well! And lucky of course...

Rankings:
1. Sundar: 2 (very good, you had the specificity I wanted)
=2. Anna: 1
=2. Jing: 1
3. Everyone else: 0

And here is the final quote of the day (still quite easy):

My fellow Americans. As a young boy, I dreamed of being a baseball, but tonight I say, we must move forward, not backward, upward not forward, and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom.

Adios

New rule

People, LEAVE YOUR NAME! PLEASE! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!

Hence, the last one will NOT be counted!

RANKINGS:
Anna: 1
Jing: 0
Anonymous: 0
Everyone else: 0

New quote, REALLY EASY

First I'll just reach in and pull my legs out, now I'll pull my arms out with my face.

Enjoy!

The competition is up and rolling

Good one Anna, although his name is actually Uter ("Would you like another lick of my flavour wax?")

RANKINGS:
Anna: 1
Jing: 0
Everyone else: 0

Anyway, onto the next quote to be indentified. This one should be a no-brainer to dedicated Simpsons fans either.

It's all over, people! We don't have a
prayer

BONUS: Why did this character say this? (I want this to be VERY specific)

Good luck all!

Stayin' Alive

I've realised that I don't really have anything to blog about any more (except the odd thing or two...like there being not many days left until we finish exams :D!).

Well as I was saying, I've decided, in true Wayland fashion, to copy Jing and run my own competition! The subjecg matter will be, unsurprisingly, The Simpsons. Now REALLY sorry to all those who still read this blog who aren't Simpsons fans (yes, unfortunately they do exist) but this is the only thing I'm good at; and I'm sure you'd all rather see this blog still alive and kicking rather than dead and listless.

Well, first things first: the rules!

1. No Googling allowed if you plan on posting up your answer. If not, and you're just curious...that's fine with me, but don't be tempted to "cheat" as many of us have considered in our darkest hours.
2. The answers are the names of characters or descriptions of those characters. However, these descriptions may need to be more specific than "that fat bald guy" because there are more than one of those! Also, if you really can't place the character, the episode or situation in which the quote is said will also be accepted and if you can get both I might consider you for bonus points should I decide that it was a good enough effort! However, note that some quotes give away the situation, and in these cases I will judge if the answer given is adequate or not.
3. Make sure you leave your name with your answer, so I know who to attribute the points to. I know this may seem a bit mean, but if you don't leave your name you will not be given the points. It's as simple as that. Hence, if you wish to remain anonymous, then don't play the game (at least don't put up your comments). Now I'm not a mean person, so if you just forgot to leave your name then I'll give you points given you've met the conditions.
4. You are allowed to look up Simpsons scripts and watch episodes. I won't give away any good sites to look up Simpsons scripts so you will have to rely on your own resourcefulness (Googling for sites is allowed).
5. In the rare case of two characters saying the EXACT SAME THING at different times, I will accept either or both of the characters. Bonus points may be given if both are submitted as answers.
6. If you show your knowledge of The Simpsons to be far superior to mine, I salute you and I will reward you. I realise this may be a bit blurry, but a good Simpsons fan will know when he's beaten in Simpsons knowledge (generally spotting a Simpsons related mistake on my behalf; and not just a slightly different quote than that spoken)
7. Bonus points may be attributed for answering extra questions. I will indicate where this may be done legitamately, although the aforementioned ways of socring bonus points will still be in effect)

Now onto the fun stuff! Yay!

To start things off, here's a really easy one.

Don't make me run, I'm full of chocolate

Have fun guys!

Can't think of anything to write so here goes with some random crap...

Ah, another post, finally. I was just sitting here going through my inbox, and I concluded that I am a chain letter drain. That is, any chain letters that get to me tend not to be continued, unless there is something special about it. Not to say that I don’t like reading them; quite the contrary in fact. I find them very amusing and a good way to keep the boredom blues away.

However, I stumbled upon quite a few of those “email this to all those you love/like/consider your friend” emails, and I’m just writing to say that if you sent me a copy but I didn’t send one back to you, it’s not because I don’t love you/like you/consider you my friend. It’s simply a matter of laziness. There. I said it. I’m just a lazy bum who can’t be bothered doing most things. So not to worry :-).

Anyway, a little update on my life. Been a most boring weekend. Work on Saturday night as usual, tutoring Sunday morning (the one question I couldn’t do in the 2003 Specialist Maths exam happened to be the one maths question my student had for me...such is life). Nothing exciting really...getting down to some productive studying finally, and wow, pharmacology was so well taught! I can actually remember most of the stuff I’m reading! Yay! Too bad the same can’t be said of biochemistry and physiology yet...ah well I’ll keep at it.

On another side note, I’m currently involved in an intense bidding competition for Jing on Anna’s blog (you can visit both blogs- the links are on the side-bar). Or if you’re lazy like me, see how the mocktion is going at http://idiots-convention.blogspot.com/2004/10/mocktion-no-4.html.

Fingers crossed I win, although I do have the huge advantage of knowing Jing very well. But hey, that doesn’t mean I will win...so if you’re reading this and you’re interested, don’t be afraid to go and put up a few bids. It’d make Jing happy if nothing else.

Anyway, I’m also in the lead for a series of “Spot the Lyric” competitions on Jing's blog. But by the looks of things, not for long (damn...).

Ah well...time for me to go. Wow...and I thought I had nothing to say this time around. So until next time...

Adios amigos.

I don't have a shine to me...

Ah, a quick briefing on what I did today, just to set the mood and all...as all “good” writers do...and even the bad ones (like me)!

Anyway, after the single lecture we had today, I decided to stay back and “study” for a while. What did I study? Why, anatomy of course! Geez...I’m such a nerd...sometimes...

Well anyway didn’t end up having lunch till about 3.30pm and while enjoying my succulent meal of deliciously mouth watering, tender, perfectly marinated...mmm...*drools*...

Ahem, that is to say, during my lunch of Extra Hot Nando’s chicken I watched the Stanley Kubrick classic, The Shining. Well, that is basically what this post is about. It’s a great film, but not the “oh my god I shat my pants because it’s so scary” type of movie that I expected. Yes, it is very freaky (the shot of frozen Jack, that was slightly unsettling...and all that blood and gore...such a visual feast!). But truly, it was an awesome movie. Great suspense. Great angles. Great sets. Great acting (Jack Nicholson is just awesome in his role, truly believable. And those eyebrows...whoa, never seen such a set of evil eyebrows). Great music. It was just great alright? Thinking about it now, had I not been so desensitized too all this horror stuff by spoofs by the delightful Simpsons and watching various other much more gory movies, not to mention all those movies that copied the same idea...okay I’m probably confusing you all. What I’m trying to say here in this jumble of a mumble is that had this been the first horror film I’d ever seen, even at this age, it probably would have had me curled up in a corner somewhere trying to hide. It’s a testament to the movie that it sent some shivers up my spine. The tricycle riding through the halls of the hotel? Just plain creepy! That blood flowing out into the hall? *Shudder*. That creepy old woman in the bath? *Double shudder* The flashes of the two girls in their ghost forms and the flashes to their bloodied corpses? *Triple shudder*. Another great thing about the movie was that it wasn’t just about some randomly insane person going on a rampage. It charted the gradual fall of a seemingly normal man into a spiral of insanity and dropped subtle hints of this along the way. Very good. Probably my favourite film of all time at the moment! Anyway...go see it. But be prepared to get freaked out. If memory serves me right...this movie is meant to be the scariest movie ever, perhaps with some competition from The Exorcist, which I’m yet to see...

Anyway, hope this post was...interesting for you all!

Well that’s it for another night!

Adios amigos!

Ah, to be loved

Thanks for all the support my friends! You really know how to make a fallen blogger feel loved! Damn, I didn't even last a month! Blogging is *Evil*, I tells ya. Evil! Eeeeeeviillll!!!!

Ahem. Sorry, I just wanted some attention.

There are a few people I want to thank (and one particularly special young lady, who I won't embarrass by mentioning but who everyone else should be able to guess...gauging from what friends have said pertaining to the obviousness of the situation). Anyway, a BIG thank you all my friends (you know who you are)! Much appreciated, and I'll try to pay you all back, somehow...

On a side, not totally unrelated, note, there is currently a MocktionTM running on Anna's blog and it seems like yours truly will run away with the wonderful prize! Yay! My first win! And as to what I will "do" with my prize...that has yet to be determined, but it will definitely be something tasteful and possibly fun? Ah, best not to count my chickens before they hatch: I've got some pretty stiff competition (but I have a clear, nearly insurmountable advantage, hehe). But hey, if any of you who still read this blog are interested in giving me a challenge, I'd be happy to oblige to a bit of bid duelling!

Anyway, I won't use up all my renewed bloggin Qi in one night, I will save some for another time. Tomorrow perhaps, but don't hold your breath till you turn blue, fall over, hit your head on the coffee table and doctors say you may have sustained brain damage. The point of this story? I like stories :D. And no, I don't have a crayon in my brain.

Okay, really going now...see you all another time, in another place (perhaps).

Ciao!

Guess who's back...

Guess who's back, back again
Wayland's back, tell a friend
Guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back
Guess who's back...

Yes, that's right! I'm back! And guess what, I've actually MISSED blogging! Yeah, I know, surprising! Well, I think Jing had something to do with it. She cheered me right up after I made my "final" post! But let's not concern ourselves with the petty details hey. The important thing here is: I'm finally back! Yes!

My children your prayers have been answered! Today is the day of reckoning! The Lord has come my sons! Hallelujah! Praise to He Almighty! Amen.

Ok...I'm done pretending...back to the Wayland of old.

What has happened this past month (wow I only lasted a month...so pathetic...). Well, not that much really. Apart from me now being REALLY, REALLY, EXTREMELY, UNBELIEVABLY HAPPY! Yay! Go me...

Anyway...really nothing much has happened, just the usual lack of sleep (yes, I've been falling asleep everywhere...on the train, in front of the TV, heck...I can fall asleep standing up sometimes!). But ah well the lack of sleep was worth it!

Um...obviously my blogging absence has made me rusty in terms of saying things...I'm sure I've put at least half of you to sleep by now...heh...ah well...I'll get better, just watch me! All I need to do is get warmed up ;). And yes, that does mean there will be more posts following!

Oh, and thanks for all the support guys! If this post has taught you nothing, know that I couldn't have gotten through the tough times without you. So thanks!

Anyway, bye!
