Urge to kill...fading...fading...fading -- rising! Fading...fading

Woohoo! My dad finally got around to getting me some new computer equipment. That’s right I now have a new MULTIFUNCTION printer and a digital camera! Yay! These past few days have been spent playing around with these cool new gadgets. Yes, I now no longer have to suffer the frustrations of my CRAPPY CANON BJC-265! It was the worst printer ever! There have been countless occasions where it made want to pick it up and throw it against the wall then kick it numerous times then scream in frustration as I look down upon the scraps...Um, nevermind that. It’s just that that printer...*shudders*. Those who know me know that it takes something special to get me all fired up, and that printer...ooh how I hated it. At least the new printer is good...but we’ll have to see if it turns out to be just as annoying, but fingers crossed it’s not, or someone may just die...

On the brighter side my new camera rocks! I’m not much of a photographer, so some of the photos I’ve been taking have turned out quite...strange. Like, there’s this option to merge (or “stitch” as the manual says) many photos into one big one. The only problem is that the photos have to be straight...and generally good. Well, mine are neither. So some of the photos have turned out...wonky. I took a photo of my backyard today, but as I moved from one picture to another, the sun came out. So in one bit of the picture the grass is dark and in the next bit it’s bright...how quaint :).

I was quite surprised, actually, by my dad’s urge to splash out on all these new gadgets. But then, I felt that he’s been generally happy with me ever since I got into medicine and got my scholarship...but I’ll probably cure him of this happiness some time in the (near) future...after I start failing subjects (darn...we only have two of those...) and stuff...oh well we’ll see how it goes I guess. Nothing to do now but wait...Staying home is so boring...

That’s it for another day guys! Take it easy now, you hear?

Testing the functions of blogger...

Hm, don't worry guys this is just a random post of mine to give blogger a test whirl :).

TESTING TESTING 1 2 3

Approaching the inevitable...

See? I told you I’d post more frequently...

I know it’s probably too early to mention this, but now that...other things (like my non-existant love life...)...have been cleared from my mind, I’ve started thinking about my exam results. On one hand I really want to get my results back but on the other I’m kind of dreading them...in case I did poorly...But I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.

Haha, in the near future I will probably get really nervous about my results, so if you guys have to suffer my angst...well, I’m sorry but this is my blog and no one said you had to read it :P. This happens to me for all exams, I always get a feeling of doom (a most valid feeling most of the time, but year 12 was a happy exception)...and this time will be no different I assure you...especially with that damn prac exam...

So in conclusion if you guys don’t hear from me after the 5th of July it’s probably because I’m dead. Either I’ve committed suicide from shame, my parents have killed me out of shame and anger, or I’ve over celebrated and died due to...things *cough* *cough*...

Well thanks for staying and listening to my rantings about pre-exam results anxiety. I will probably talk about this again later on...but for now, fare thee well!

May the force be with me...

Ah don’t worry kids, I’m not a Star Wars fanatic, it’s just that with all these different forces assailing me from all sides (*cough* Jing *cough* Jean *cough* Margaret) telling me to post up another blog…well who can say no to girls :)? Well, to keep you all nice and happy (and civil when talking to me, like saying things other than “Wayland, blog, NOW! Do it!) I will try to shorten them, and save some of the content for future blogs. So, from now on, my blogs will be (definitely) shorter but (maybe) more frequent. And if I don’t post frequently now, well, at least I tried…

Anyway, nothing much is happening nowadays. Holidays, meh, stuff happens. Go out with friends, chill at home, usual stuff. We went bowling on Friday, and after a slow start (made at least 4 gutter balls in a row) I came back to win, yes, that’s right. I was lulling my opponents into a false sense of victory…and then bam! I hit them with strikes and spares left, right and centre…Joking of course I think I got lucky...Well we’re going again tomorrow and I’ll see if I really did get lucky or if I am truly gifted (hehehe, I wish...)

Not much else happening…so in the spirit of my reform (and to save some of the stuff I can say for another time), I bid you farewell.

Is this the end?

Yes my friends that time has come. The unexpected has happened. I am no longer interested in blogging. It’s sad, I know, sorry to disappoint my legion of fans (just kidding) but I have given up trying to make things up to write. Hence, this may be my last post for quite a while. So I’ll try to make it good.

Well, I’m officially in the holidays now. After First Aid today I was a free man. Yes, that’s right, the Wayland you all thought you knew has changed…he now is a qualified First Aider! And if you knew me, you’d be running away screaming right now…yes, today in first aid I managed to decapitate a mannequin, and when I pressed down on the ribs a very peculiar (abnormal that is...) sound was produced, and I couldn’t find the pulse on one of the people I was practicing on (my friend Vivien)...yes, you’d better be careful not to collapse next to me...Although to be honest the test they gave us was a bit of a joke.

The holidays have been quite enjoyable up to this stage. I’ve been going out with friends and doing general…relaxing…stuff…yes…stuff…stuff is good. Beats staying home and doing nothing at least. Well, not always but most of the time anyway.

A friend asked me a very interesting question today: “What do you like about the person you like?”. Well, this really got me thinking. It was not really one thing, but a whole range of things…I thought it was just the person, as a whole, with everything counted in, but who knows. It’s very hard to pin point an answer to such an interesting question. Well my conclusion was that if you truly liked someone there’s not one particular thing you can say that’s the reason you like them. Because it is my thought that if you like someone you will like almost (if not all) everything about them. Well, it applies to me anyway. So I’ll let you guys ponder that…

Actually, after writing that I feel a resurgence of my blogging spirit, so be prepared to see another post in the near future. Well that’s enough for now. Until next time, or if not, see you on the other side!

Ciao!

Forced blogging...

Well, it’s been a few days since I last posted, and frankly, I’ve missed it. Yes, the sitting down at my computer and typing up random stuff is indeed thrilling and able to chase away pre and post exam blues every time. But seeing as it’s the holidays there isn’t really much happening in my life that is of any significant note, although if anything does happen I will keep you loyal fans out there posted. Oh yes, and a big sorry as well to all those who wanted to see a post yesterday (that’s you Margo, and any others who were deprived but did not mention it to me…) and I’m sorry but this post is probably going to be very boring…unless of course you use your imagination and…embellish…things a bit…

I have an excuse, however, for missing out on a post yesterday. For you see after finishing tutoring in the morning I was called over to a friend’s place, where we played an (un)friendly game of Monopoly (yes, that Monopoly money sure does smell sweet…) and various card games (including Uno…damn you and you incessant draw cards…make me draw 16…) and after that I was off to another friend’s place (this friend also happened to be a family friend) where I stayed until the wee hours of the morning, watching the first two Harry Potter movies. Yes it’s true I’ve been converted. Before I had no opinion on the series, now I like it (love is too strong a word…). So as you can see, I have a very valid excuse…what do you mean it’s not good enough! You don’t expect me to go online at two in the morning do you? Ok fine, be like that…

Another update to my life is my driving skills. In these holidays I plan to get my licence. Driving is fun…there’s something about stomping that accelerator and merrily spinning a wheel that really creates a surge of excitement…yes, doing 120 down the freeway is really liberating…unless you hit something…and changing lanes is a nightmare…and going in a straight line is damn near impossible…and my foot cramps sometimes because there’s not enough room in the car (I’m 187cm or about 6 ft 3” by the way)…and the roof of the car is too low…but other than that it’s all good :).

But that’s all for another post, TV calls again, so I must make a sad farewell once again. Hope this post has been enough to tide you over until I can think of something more interesting…

Auf wiedersehen!

Now for something a little different

Ok, here is something different. Some time ago in the past I was talking to a friend about how more people should watch the Simpsons, and somehow or another we came up with some text preaching the joys of watching the show. Well, here it is, a refined and expanded version of The Simpsons Gospel (note some of it may have been copied from the Bible…):

In the beginning, the Eternal Simpson in the Sky created the world and on each day He fashioned form his great mind the different aspects of the world. On the fifth day of Creation he made a man but saw that the man had nothing to do bar from frolic with the animals. So He spake “Let there be The Simpsons” and there they were, in their full joyous glory. And spake the man, “Praise the Lord, for thou art infinitely wise. I shall henceforth devote my humble services to thee, great one!”

So it was that man and Simpsons lived in peace, until such time that man felt lonely in his joy for the show. So prayed the man for a partner with whom he could share the gifts of the Simpsons. So took He from the man one tender rib and fashioned out of it an appropriate partner for the man: a woman. Together the man and the woman expressed their love for their favourite show, and produced offspring with whom they could expand the joy known as The Simpsons.

And so it came to be that the race of humanity expanded beyond the borders of the paradise the Lord had fashioned for his beloved creatures and He had no choice but to let them wander the face of the Earth. But there was one who opposed the Eternal Simpson in the Sky, one who became bitter for he did not find The Simpsons at all enjoyable. And he, to undermine His strength, will try at every step and turn to deter His people from the righteous path.

So take heed, for when thou time is due, thou shalt ascend to the sky. Once there the Guardian of the Gate to eternal bliss shall place upon thee one task. That task is to complete one phrase that the Guardian shall ask thee. And if thou art able to complete that phrase thou shalt be forever welcomed and embraced by the Eternal Simpson in the Sky. But if thou shalt fail, then thou shalt fall ever into the darkness of lesser sitcoms and animations never to be let back into the heavenly afterlife.

To be continued...or not...depends on whether I can be bothered...

Just a little side note

Oh, a friend just mentioned something. In my blog “Making things up” I mentioned Yu Tang taking something from me, well, this was my pitiful attempt at humour…see this is why I’m doing medicine and not in the entertainment business. Anyway, I’d just like to say sorry to my good buddy Yu Tang for this misunderstanding and for my sheer stupidity. Hope you can forgive me :).

Also I’ve realised the reason my blogs have been so hard to write and boring is that I’ve been trying to make them diary-like, and so I’ve decided in order to liven them up and make it easier for me to write, I will include more random content. So be warned, things may just get weirder (I know that I’d promised I’d get less weird, but…oh well)

Just letting you know.

Free like the wind

In case you haven’t been following the story so far, today was the day of my final (important) exam! Yes, that’s right as of this moment (well actually it was before but I wasn’t online at that time was I?) Well yes as you’ve probably guessed as of now I am a free man…for four weeks…which is better than nothing…which is what a lot of people have (nothing that is, not four weeks, just in case you’re a bit slow, like me)

Well while I’m on the subject of exams., I might as well complain about my exam today, which was based on the practicals that we did over the semester, so you’d think that the content would be kind of easy, and stuff we’ve actually covered in our classes…but alas, this was only true in my little fantasy world…in the real world the exam covered many things we did not explicitly cover, and the timing was all wrong…and I could go on all night with the things I thought could have been done better…but I wouldn’t want to bore my fans, and lose that fragile support network of faithful readers now, would I :)?

Ah well, there’s nothing I can do about the exam now anyway, and plus it’s all over so it’s all good! And now, these posts should be getting slightly less strange, although I wouldn’t count on it, seeing as it’s the holidays and all…and I might get mighty bored…so don’t go getting your hopes up out there :).

Ah, enough for one night, it’s once again time to bid you farewell! Don’t touch that remote because I’ll be right back to post up some more random stuff! See you on the other side!

Making things up

First I’d like to say a huge sorry to all my fans out there… you know who you are…stop pretending :) Haha only joking, I’m pretty sure there are only a handful of people who are faithful enough to read all my ramblings and ravings anyway. Ah as I was saying, I failed to make a post yesterday, and this is not (entirely) my fault, for you see my Internet Explorer malfunctioned, destroying the post I was working on…for the better half of four whole hours…yes, I was writing the post while also trying to study and chatting on MSN, a lesson to you out there: stick to one thing at a time ;-).

Moving on, I have to mention my good friend Yu Tang, who to my knowledge started what Jean called “The Blog Revolution”, or something like that. Anyway, thanks Yu Tang, and here I did mention you…so can I have my things back now? Please? Come on you promised…thanks :).

Well, it’s another exam over today, so there’s just the last thing tomorrow…oh and the First Aid next week, but then we never thought of it as an exam…did we? Oh yes…I can taste the freedom…it’s similar to….chicken…hm, maybe duck…

Well our time has come to a sad end once again my friends. So until next time stay out of trouble and stay out of jail, so you don’t miss the next thrilling installment!

Another day, another blogging

Ah, it seems that I have made an accurate prediciton...I am wasting my time on the internet today, instead of what I should be doing, which is studying. But all goes well, I'm still waiting for that 'accident' to happen, it's just around the corner...I can feel it...it's stalking me...yes, I can see it now, in that house across the street, spying on me...(note this was adapted from a Simpsons quote, a Principle Skinner quote to be precise)

Hm, is this stranger than my last post? I can't tell...I've lost all track of my own thoughts and cognitions, hehe, well maybe not...I'm just saying that because of what I am studying at the moment...it's very stressful but I have learned to cope...whether it was adaptive or maladaptive, we will have to wait and see :).

Anyway, this feels like the right time and place to mention the newest member of my family: a new goldfish! Yes, the passing of our five year old fish was very sad, let's have a minute of silence to respect the memories of that wonderful little thing, and remember the good times, not the bad, remember the saintly fish, and not the alcoholic drug addicted wife-beater...It now peacfully lies with its soulmate (our other fish who died a few months before), so, rest in peace little fish, ashes to ashes, dust to dust...

Ah, on a lighter note the new fish is settling in very well, and after some initial restlessness it has calmed down and now we can spend hours on end watching its crazy antics in the tank, and those bubbles from its mouth...Yes, we have welcomed our new friend with outstretched arms and hope its stay with us will be a long and fruitful one.

Well that's it for today, so I say to you "Good mental health" (-Frasier Krane)

What goes up must come down

And the story unfolds...

Ah, I've finally finished my first exam this year...what a great feeling, no more worries...at least for another hour or so...as the name of this post implies...all things fade, eventually, whether they're good or bad...and you're probably thinking "What about cancer?" A valid question I must say, and in response I say "Death".

Well, as you can see I'm still not fully normal...although with luck these posts will get less and less strange as time goes by, but then, maybe not.

It's good to see that more people have posted up comments on my blog :), it will keep me interested, so take note kids! Keep "My life as a Wayland" alive by posting comments! No strings attached! No obligations to buy! Pay by credit card and receive a second blog ABSOLUTELY FREE!

Oh dear...seems like I've really lost is this time...I probably shouldn't be writing this, the pre-exam nerves are starting to creep up on me ever so slyly...luckily I have the whole of tomorrow to study! Yay! Although knowing me, I'll probably end up wasting it on the internet...

Oh well, that's the way things go, and I can't be bothered writing anymore tonight. So until next time kids, keep up the good hygiene and don't be naughty!

Adios.

The beginning of the end...

Yes, this is the first in a series of posts that will eventually end...whether with my death or my disinterest/getting bored of posting stuff...we'll see how things turn out. So, the lesson to be learnt from this is that you should try to enjoy every one of my posts...because it may be the last...

No, seriously...

Ah, moving on, tomorrow is my first exam of the year...and quite a major one at that...so please forgive me if this post is a bit strange/boring...I think my brain has melted (read: undergone liquefactive necrosis)...

Well, I should thank my (adopted) little sister Jing for introducing me to this wonderful way to take my time away from my all-important studies :-)...and Jean of course for introducing it to Jing, oh and whoever introduced it to Jean...the list goes on (see what I mean about my melted brain?). Oh, and a grand big Hello! to anyone taking time to actually read this post as well! Thanks for the support! Oh yes, and I'd like to thank my friends (you know who you are), family and mentors without whom I would not be the person I am today...(nevermind that last thank-you bit...just me being weird again...)

Well, that's all I can be bothered writing at this time...so stay tuned kiddies for the next exciting installment of "My life as a Wayland"

To be continued...
