Forget Byzantium, we have Subway

Yes you guessed right. Once again I am bored...I leave in about half an hour to go to one of my best friend’s (or should it be “friends’”?) birthday celebrations. And once again instead of putting my energies into something less productive I’m typing up this post. Well I’ve improved to a muscular 1.5 words per minute! Aren’t I quick? And no, I don’t need a job as a courtroom typist thank you very much. I’m happy enough to be a medical student.

Anyway, to the, er, topic of this post. Although Subway (Eat Fresh...) pays me a measly amount for my efforts it does give me time to think. And I’ve decided that it is my thinking spot. Doing the same routine cleaning rounds gives one a lot of time to ponder the mysteries of life. For example I was thinking about my blog. Then I thought “Why do they call it a blog?” and it struck me like a speeding train and I was literally floored (getting me some glances from my co worker and the customers that happened to be in the store). It’s so called because it is the shortened version of “web-log”. Yes! Aren’t I the smart one! “I am so smart! I am so smart! S-M-R-T! I mean, S-M-A-R-T”

Anyway some other ideas have struck me while I’ve been at work. Like the meaning of life, the nature and origins of the universe and the errors in Einstein’s theory of General Relativity (yes I realised that one small change will make it perfect, singularities or not).

But I’m sure you guys have much more important things to do than listen to me blabber on about that boring stuff! Yes Subway is a goldmine of ideas!

Don’t touch that remote, more to come next week!

A long and boring post about nothing

Well I guess I’m keeping my promise of making at least one post per week. So here it is. The work from uni is as of yet uncompleted, but it’s boring and there’s no one to chat to me online (aw...poor me, people stop studying and go online! Haha only joking...) so instead of doing something unproductive like study (since nothing is going in) I’ve decided to put my energies to good use. Yes that’s right. I’m practicing my typing skills. Watch me friends, in no time at all Uncle Waylay will be a typing pro, blitzing the keyboard at a hefty one word per minute he will blow you all away!

As you can see study has once again made me weird...remember my very first posts? *Sigh*...at least in those days holidays were in sight. Ah, to be young again! Seeing as it’s the middle of the week I think there will probably be another post coming later in the week. I’m not promising anything, however.

So then you ask what was the purpose of this post if another is going to be done? Well...as I’ve said I was bored. Nothing really interesting has happened at all since Sunday, apart from a few scares (but I will not disclose what those were...if you really want to know you can ask me on MSN, which I will be on again tonight, as I am most nights). Yes I have a brief time in which to ramble (about nothing whatsoever) at this very moment. Off to work in a tick, but before let me just whine about that too, seeing as we’re on the subject of complaining about things.

Well work is sucking the life out of me, in some ways that is. This Saturday is the birthday of a very good friend (Stacie), but unfortunately I’ve got work. I’m trying to get time off but the success of that is undecided at this moment...hopefully it will all be sorted out. Ok back to today. Well I’m procrastinating so much now that I really shouldn’t go to work, you know, so I can catch up on all that work I’ve been “doing” today (damn PBL, too much stuff to look up...damn NDM, too much stuff to remember and damn HP, too much reading to do! I’m blind enough as it is! Give us a break people!).

*Sigh*

Ok time for me to go guys. Sorry about this long and boring post. I really didn’t have much to say, but I needed something to do to keep me from going cuckoo in the ten minutes after I decided to stop studying and have to go to work.

Keeping in line with my (very old) resolution

Yes today it dawned on me that I've broken my promise (or have I...can't think properly...a mixture of lack of sleep...only about 3 or 4 hours last night, hehe...and other stuff...mainly contentment?...maybe too weak a word but I really can't think of anything else right now). Anyway I've decided on a new resolution: yes I will blog if I get a chance to once a week, most likely on the weekends. That should cover most of anything exciting that has happened in that week...hopefully.

Well, what happened this week...hm...uni has started again and with it the perpetual workload and infinitely deep knowledge to be uncovered...well not really I'm over-dramatising but can you blame me?

Well something else very special has also happened, and that is the source of my contentment...no longer do I need to be actually doing something to have fun...there is a special someone out there...with whom simply being in the presence of is fun! Ah...this probably explains my last post too right? (For all the juicy details ask me ;-), hehe)

Anyway I've realised how much reading I'll have to do next semester! Yikes I'll be blind by the time I become a doctor at this rate...oh and a side note for all you kiddies out there. Trying to do your HMB reading at 6am is not a good idea...All I have now is a half-read reader with random bits highlighted (like...the pictures coloured in and stuff...and with strokes of pure artistic genius seemingly placed randomly but really carefully plotted for maximal effect...not). Anyway none of it has gone in. And as for why in the world I was up at 6am in the morning...well...to that I have no answer...maybe it was the short black I had before going to bed? Or rather, something else (I had the same thing happen to me on my first year 12 exam and before our really, really important physics SAC...that is I had a nervous reaction probably)

Well overall I'd have to say that this was one of the best weeks of uni of my short uni life (of course, the weekend being part of the week and all...). I look forward to having more of the same :). I hope this is enough until next week.

Auf wiedersehen meine freunde.

Something special in my life

Now I know how it feels to be truly happy. But by tomorrow I will probably be even happier.

That's all I have to say.

Yet another day of merry movies...and other things...

Hm, my ever sporadic memory has failed, and I cannot remember whether or not I posted about the movie day we had last time...But nevertheless I shall say that I once again had a movie day. Ok, a little background information for you guys...

Once upon a time in a homely little neighbourhood far, far away in the paradise of Ivanhoe a young man thought to himself..."I am bored, I wish I could gather a few friends for some fun yet cheap activity". And as an asteroid to the unsuspecting celestial body, an idea hit this young man. He decided to call forth his friends to his homely glen and with them watch some movies. And from there sprung forth a regular (not really) activity to become tradition with mythical origins...

Well now that you know that, well, the tradition has been continued...today in fact. Once again my friends made their way to distant lands...their path fraught with danger. Yes many a wild beast and unruly scoundrel had to be by-passed as their perilous journey took them to the farthest corners and the tallest mountains of the Earth.

Well pay no heed to the wording everyone...I’ve just watched "Kill Bill Vol. 1" (sorry Jing, but with bocce and time restrictions we never got around to watch it...) and for some reason it inspired me to write like this...hey don’t look at me, it was Quentin Tarantino who mixed together in the saucepan of his mind various styles of cinema (watch the making of the film, you’ll get what I mean).

In any case back to the original topic of this post. Today was a fun day. After the movie we enjoyed a fine cuisine of pizza and then enjoyed the age old game of bocce. Which I, unfortunately (well maybe not quite, since I had fun anyway), did not win :-( (oh, well done to Benny and Yvonne by the way, for being such bocce masters! And I guess also congratulations to Atandrila, Jing, Vivien and Wen...for a great game and putting up with our rusty and dusty old balls...). After that, being inspired by the movie we watched today, we played the card game "Cheat" a.k.a. "Bullshit", which, happily, I did win! Yay! Go me and my apparent honesty ;-).

Well that’s it for today, a rather long post...for not that much that actually happened, when you compare it to the topics I’ve had before...Oh well, au revoir mes enfants!

I am the mightiest blog guy out there...well...maybe not but let's think that anyway ;-)

Yay! Admire my computer savvyness kids :D. Try clicking on one of my friends' blog links on the side and see what happens! Isn't it great *pats self on the back*. I wonder where I draw my inspiration from...I was just sitting in front of my computer and chatting on MSN and *wham* this idea hit me. Ah I'm such a genius (ok ok I'm joking geez no need to get so touchy about it...). Hehe if you haven't noticed yet I'm very, very happy with these new changes! Ah...this was one of those rare occasions where the changes worked the FIRST TIME AROUND! Yes that's right whereas certain other changes took me hours to create (and seconds to remove :-(...) this change took me mere minutes! Maybe I'm getting better at all this programming stuff. Oh well I was going to make them more advanced, that is, you could choose to stay or go to the friends' blogs after clicking on the link (in case you, er, clicked them by accident) but alas, I could not be bothered. Yes I still have not fully recovered from that bout of couldn'titis, but it's getting better. At least I'm blogging. And you never know, the aforementioned changes may yet be made...sometime in the future. Can't believe I've written so much on this topic, I expected it to be only a few lines...oh well...see? I'm getting better already...Well anyway, I bid you farewell! So until next time...don't go jumping in front of cars my friends! I need all the fan support I need, maybe you can when I get sick of blogging...but not now ;-). Hahaha you know I'm joking with you...or am I...

In the mood for more holidays

The rush of wind through your hair, the feel of the ground as it rushes past you...that was the feeling I got to enjoy once again today when I went rollerblading near the beach with a group of friends. Too bad to those of you who "couldn't" come (rather couldn't be bothered...damn you lazy people, could have at least come for "moral support"!). Unfortunately I had a rather nasty fall and grazed my "upper thigh" (for those "Everybody Loves Raymond" fans out there, and others too if you think about it...you know what I mean...), but it will heal, and all will once again be well. This one day was the saving grace of a rather uneventful week, which is why I haven’t posted anything for a while. Apart from work and staying home, nothing else at all has happened all week (that I can think of in my current, tired state...). Well that’s all for now, hopefully by the time I’m well rested and fully recovered, I will make another post. Until such a time comes, adios amigos!

The power of the gun holder...

Yes that’s right, I have a gun! Well, a high pressure water gun to be more precise...but a gun nonetheless! Today I tried it out...and I LIKED it! Oh yes...the feeling of that super high pressure jet of water erupting forth from that nozzle is a good feeling. I felt so...in control, so...powerful. The feeling was reminiscent of those people using flamethrowers. I’d imagine that people using flamethrowers experience much the same thrills...although I must say that the splash-back would not be as nice as it was with the water gun (note it was not one of those petty water pistols. This one was electrically powered and derived its water from a mains supply. Well...that’s all for today. I just felt that this new development was worthy of a blog...

Another day in the boring life of Wayland

Yes I know I’ve gone back on my promise to post more frequently. Oh, boo-hoo, how could I...well in any case there’s a perfectly good reason...I couldn’t be bothered. Yes, the holidays have increased my tiredness (despite the fact that pretty much all I’ve been doing is staying home and chatting on MSN Messenger...till the wee hours of the morning as well...thanks Margaret). Well, an update to my life...I scraped through my exams, yes I got what was needed of me and am reasonably happy. Also I had a few friends over to watch some movies on Tuesday...that was a good day. And I’ve been working (at Subway, Eat Fresh...) a fair bit. Yes, that’s right kiddies Uncle Waylie is a qualified Sandwich Artist (it’s a Subway term...don’t ask...)...oh, and if you’re ever in Ivanhoe on a Wednesday or a Saturday night feel free to drop by, to see the man behind the blog if nothing else :-). Well that’s all for now...expect another blog in the next month or so...
